The MFAD signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Association of Municipalities, for the establishment of the Collegium for the Diaspora

July 1, 2022 - The Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla, has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the chairman of the Association of Municipalities of Kosovo, Agim Ali.

With this agreement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora plans the inclusion of municipalities in the framework of programs and activities for and with the diaspora.

Precisely, the purpose of this memorandum is the creation of the Collegium for Diaspora within the Association of Municipalities of Kosovo, and, through it, the coordination, cooperation, co-creation and support of municipalities by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, for the interconnection of municipalities in the co-creation, development and implementation of programs and activities related to the engagement of the diaspora at the local level.

According to the agreement, the parties will create conditions for the engagement of the diaspora in development policies, as well as work together to encourage the diaspora to invest in Kosovo and to execute exports from Kosovo to the respective countries.

The agreement was signed at the solemn ceremony marking the 21st anniversary of the establishment of the Association of Municipalities.

The signing was done in the presence of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.
